Different Leather Types!
Cowhide mocs are possibly the most prevalent. Cowhide is durable, and it will either be soft and mold to your foot, or a bit stiffer than most types, depending on the weight.
Pigskin is a very lightweight. It is not as prevalent for the use in mocs. Likely a pigskin moc would have a cowhide sole on it. This would help with the durability of the sole.
Deerskin are one of the best choices for daily use. Deerskin leathers are most often buttery soft. It will literally mold to your foot within a couple of days of wearing. Deerskin is extremely lightweight. Deerskin are my personal favorites, for pretty much living in.
Elkhide are a much heavier moc than a deerskin or pigskin. Elkhide can be a very soft, durable, and long lasting. They would be great for hunting, or other outdoor uses.
Buffalo mocs are one of the strongest, as buffalo leathers are almost indestructible. Even though it is extremely durable, it is very soft. Great for outdoor use.
Buffalo hide moc boots would be great for motorcycle riding. I ride a motorcycle, and I love to wear enhanced moc boots on my motorcycle. They are extremely comfortable both for riding and walking around when I stop. Also, I like them, because I can feel my controls easier and the road under my feet when I come to stops.
No matter what kind you prefer, as a Pedorthist, I recommend enhanced moccasins no matter which you choose to wear.
Since I don't actually sell moccasins or slippers, and a number of individuals were asking for them, I searched and found a company who carries a nice, broad selection.
And, just to be sure I felt comfortable sending my visitors to them, I ordered a pair myself. I was quite impressed. I received them just as they said. I paid no shipping, (no return shipping, if I had have wanted to return them), and no sales tax. Also, they even offered me a 60 day return policy.
